Dec 1944 to Jan 1945 – Battle of the Bulge
- On December 16, 1944, the Wehrmacht launches a final counter-offensive and attempts to occupy the port of Antwerp (Belgium) and thereby split the Allied forces along the German border.

The attempt fails. From January 1, 1945, the Wehrmacht is in retreat.
