The background is yellow, which represents the “Gilets Jaunes“, people who participated in some special demonstrations in France. When it was first released, there were 32, but because of the demonstrators injured by police officers, the artist decided to finish his painting by painting 9 more eyes and a black square. The 9 eyes he added in represent 9 new injured victims, and the black square represents a death. When he completed his painting, he wrote the date of the 10 last victims.
