This example follows a gentle, multi-week settling-in process based on the Berlin Model: adapt it to your own concept.

The settling-in period is a big step for your child and for you.

We take as much time as your child needs: usually 2 to 4 weeks.

The most important ingredient: plan this time without appointment pressure.

You come together with your child for about one hour.

You are the safe harbor: present, but in the background.

The key teacher carefully makes contact.

No separation yet.

First short separation of 15 to 30 minutes: say goodbye briefly and clearly, and remain reachable in the building.

Crying at goodbye is normal: what matters is whether your child can be comforted by us.

Your child sets the pace: we discuss every step with you.

The childcare time gradually gets longer: first until after lunch, then including nap time.

The settling-in period is complete when your child feels secure, eats, plays, and can be comforted.

A cuddly toy or comfort cloth from home (the most important companion)

A change of clothes, slippers, diapers if needed

A family photo for the personal box

Put your child's name on all items: this saves a lot of searching

A short, loving goodbye helps more than dragging it out. We will call you if your child cannot be calmed: no call means your child is doing well.

Yes, what matters is a consistent, familiar person who accompanies the entire settling-in period.

The settling-in period pauses and then continues calmly afterward: the schedule is a framework, not a race.
