Via the sidebar Create Map, choose Import to reach all import routes:
- Edumaps file (json):
  Any exported map can be imported again - swap maps with colleagues or adopt templates.
- Map from another Edumaps server:
  Paste the map link, done - all files are transferred.
- Padlet board:
  Existing Padlets are imported directly, media included: https://www.edumaps.de/padlet-import
- Tutory collection:
  Adopt worksheets and collections from Tutory directly
Note for switchers: TaskCards unfortunately offers no export function, so importing from TaskCards is not possible. Padlet users, on the other hand, move over completely in a few clicks (see Padlet import).

Your content belongs to you - the map export makes that concrete. In edit mode, via the three dots of the map menu and Export map, you reach among others:
- Offline map (html):
  The map as a standalone website including files - ideal for archiving.
- Edumaps file (json):
  The complete exchange format for backup and sharing.
- Moodle course (mbz):
  Your map as an importable Moodle course.
- Image file (png):
  Like a photo of the pinboard you built.
- PDF document (pdf):
  For printing and filing.
- Participant lists (csv):
  For bookings on the map.
For schools this is a data protection argument: all content and data can be exported into various formats at any time.

Quick recap:
- Import brings existing content in - including from Padlet and Tutory.
- Export hands everything back out - JSON, Moodle, HTML, PDF.
If you can import and export, you are never locked in. Among school platforms, that is not a given.
