2.6 Tutorial: Using Tags and Tag Filters on a Map
Edumaps Contents Overview | -- {📌 Introduction to Tags}{!#a1} -- {➕ Add Tags to a Box}{!#a2} -- {🕵️ Filter by Tags}{!#a3} -- {🏷️ Multiple Tags per Box Possible}{!#a4} -- {⚠️ Note on Tag Formatting}{!#a5} -- {🔗 Use Tags in Map Links}{!#a6} -- {📖 Example of Using Tags and Filters}{!#a7} -- {🗂️ Summary}{!#a8} 📌 Introduction to Tags | Tags are **keywords** that help structure content on a map and make it easy to filter. They always start with a hash sign `#` and consist of a single word with no spaces, for example `#school` or `#done`. By adding relevant tags to individual boxes, users can search for specific topics and quickly find similar content. !#a1 ➕ Add Tags to a Box | To add a tag to a box, follow these steps: 1. Open the desired box in your map. 2. Write a hash sign directly before the keyword, for example: `#mytag`. 3. You can also add multiple tags by using more words with hash signs, for example: `#done #school` It is important that tags are **written without spaces** and only consist of one word. Example: ``` #project #submission ``` This marks the box with the tags **project** and **submission**. You may also use hyphens, dots, or underscores inside a tag, e.g. #my-school #project.1 #school_30 !#a2 🕵️ Filter by Tags | You can click on a tag within a box. This activates a tag filter: - **Click on a tag:** Only the boxes containing the same tag are shown. - **Click the same tag again:** The filter is removed and all boxes are visible again. This makes it much easier to focus, especially when searching for specific content. **Example:** If you click on `#school`, only boxes marked with this tag will appear. #school !#a3 🏷️ Multiple Tags per Box Possible | It is possible to assign multiple tags to a box. Simply add a hash sign before each word you want to use as a tag. **Example:** ``` #exam #math #lesson ``` The box will now appear when filtering for any of these tags. This is especially helpful for making complex content easy to find in different contexts. Here is an example of how teachers can be filtered by subject: https://www.edumaps.de/1212/1/ywmw0cujf7/nqqohuvte2 Our Faculty – Portraits of Teachers !#a4 ⚠️ Note on Tag Formatting | Please keep the following rules in mind when tagging: - Tags always consist of **only one word with no spaces**. - Special characters (except for the hash sign at the beginning as well as hyphen and dot) should ideally be avoided. - Tags can be **chosen freely** to categorize your content. **Incorrect:** ``` #my tag ``` **Correct:** ``` #mytag ``` !#a5 🔗 Use Tags in Map Links | You can link maps directly so that only boxes with a specific tag are shown when opened. Simply add your tag selection to the link: ``` &tag=mytag ``` Replace `mytag` with the desired tag. This is particularly useful for focused presentations or sharing specific overviews. !#a6 📖 Example of Using Tags and Filters | Assume your map contains the following boxes: || Box || Content || Tags || || Tasks || List of tasks for the project || #project #todo || || Submission || Deadline and submission notes || #submission #project || || School || Tips for learning || #school || If you click on `#project` or open the map with `&tag=project`, only the matching boxes are displayed. Clicking the tag again removes the filter and shows all boxes. !#a7 🗂️ Summary | Tags let you easily structure and filter content on your pinboard map. Remember: - **Start each tag with # hash.** - **Multiple tags are possible.** - **Format: Only one word, no spaces.** - **Activate filter by clicking a tag.** - **Links can include the tag filter.** This helps you keep track and quickly find relevant information. #school !#a8
