Data protection and operation
Edumaps is designed for use in education. Operation is carried out with hosting in Germany, personal data is processed in compliance with the GDPR, and a DPA for commissioned processing can be provided.
When Edumaps is opened, the browser connects exclusively to Edumaps servers: no tracking services, no external fonts, no third-party scripts. This can be checked in any browser with the developer tools (“Network” tab).
Schools retain control over users, roles, permissions and content. Maps can be shared publicly, protected, internally, class-based or only with specific users. Admins can manage access, control permissions and organize shared content transparently.
With AI functions, content is not used to train AI models. AI processing is designed for school use and can be integrated into the school’s existing data protection and approval processes.
Further information can be found in the privacy notices and the documents on commissioned processing.
Accessibility
Accessibility is important in school use. Edumaps is continuously developed further and is guided by the requirements of BITV 2.0 as well as the WCAG guidelines. The goal is to support schools in meeting their own requirements for low-barrier digital offerings.
- Keyboard operation & structure Content is semantically structured (headings, lists, labels) and can be operated with the keyboard.
- Scalable display Font sizes and zoom can be adjusted without losing central functions.
- Readable contrasts The interface is designed for good readability and sufficient contrast.
- Alternative texts possible Images and media can be provided with alternative texts to make content more accessible.
